Dental Lab Technician
Duties and Responsibilities: They work with molds and
impressions of patients to make crowns, bridges, dentures, and other dental
appliances. They work with dentists, but don’t really see patients. They work
with small tools like files and polishers to create these dental appliances. They
can also specialize in different areas such as: orthodontic appliances, crowns
and bridges, complete dentures, partial dentures, implants, or ceramics. Each
technician has its own title depending on what they specialize in.
Salary: The average annual salary for a dental is $28,496.
Education: A way to be a dental lab technician is finalizing
one of the two-year or four-year degrees in dental technology that is offered
in educational programs. Another way is to become a trainee in a large dental laboratory.
Reflection: I wouldn't like to be one because I don’t want a
career in medicine so I don’t think it’s right for me. Also its working with
molds and appliances for a person’s teeth and I don’t want to do that.
