Presidents Day

Presidents Day
  • What is Presidents Day?

It’s a federal holiday that is designated as Washington’s Birthday.
  • What is the purpose of Presidents Day?

The purpose is to celebrate Washington’s Birthday.
  • When is it?

Presidents Day is celebrated on the third Monday of February.
  • What are a few ways to show honor and respect on Presidents Day?

I don’t know since I don’t celebrate this but I think that remembering all of what Washington did for this country is a way of having honor and respect for this day.

Student Success Statement Victor Hugo

Student Success Statement

"Right is right only when entire."
Victor Hugo

Reflection: Even if we tell half- truths, they are still lies because we are not saying the whole truth entirely. It's like if we cheat on a test, we might only do half of it dishonestly but that still enough to affect the whole thing so that means that you didn't do the test in way it should have been done, the right way. So in everything we do we should do it right. This means that doing right is telling the entire truth.

Student Success Statement Arnold H. Glasgow

Student Success Statement
"In life as in football, you won't go far, unless you know where goalposts are."
Arnold H. Glasgow
Reflection: This quote is very true because in football if you don't know where the goalposts are then you are going to have a hard time reaching that goal, and the same goes for us we don't know what goals we are trying to reach then we won't reach them.

History of Basketball

History of Basketball
James Naismith, a physical education instructor, was the inventor of the game we call basketball. He invented this game while working at YMCA Training School in Springfield. He invented this game/sport in 1891. He invented it by using his imagination and wanting to have a game where there was “skill, finesse, and accuracy. “ In http://wonderopolis.org/ it states that he created this game because he was challenged to make a new game” that could be played indoors in the cold Massachusetts winter to provide an ‘”athletic distraction”’ to a disruptive group of students. In the beginning they were probably playing inside one of the building or outside in a small field. They would play with soccer balls because obviously basketball weren’t made until later. Also iron hoops weren’t made until later so they would use peach baskets to throw the ball in and later retrieve it. There were 9 players on each team and 13 rules. Basketball today is different from basketball when it started because now there are more rules that need to be followed so players don’t get hurt. Also we have a court personally made for basketball and also a ball and iron hoop with a net.

Student Success Statement Count Leo Tolstoy

Student Success Statement
"Only those live who do good."
Count Leo Tolstoy
Reflection: This quote is very true because if you don' t do good in your life then what's the point in being alive? You are just existing, not living. We have to live doing good if we want to live at all. It doesn't matter how many years you are, it matters how many you lived.
